His Majesty King Harald V will attend World Gym for Life Challenge 2017
We are proud to announce that the 3rd World Gym for Life Challenge becomes a royal Challenge. The Norwegian King, His Majesty King Harald, is celebrating his 80th Anniversary. As a sport enthusiast, The Norwegian Confederation of Sports (NIF) have given him three sports events as gift, one of them a gymnastic event.
The official name of the event is now: King Harald`s World Gym for Life Challenge.
This will be the first time in many years the Norwegian King attend a gymnastic-event.
The LOC-committee is very pleased with the fact thatNIF has picked out World Gym for Life Challenge 2017 as a gift to the king. It is a recognition that gymnastics is a major sport.
– King Harald V is very fond of all kind of sports, and we are sure he will appreciate meeting all of you at King Harald`s World Gym for Life Challenge in July, says The LOC-president Stig Nilssen.
In a press release from FIG, Gymnastics for All Committee President Margaret Sikkens Ahlquist (SWE) said:
“Royalty plays an important role in Norway. They represent their country in a very positive way. The acceptance of King Harald to have his name added to the World Gym for Life Challenge shows the importance of our event and it is a huge honour for all participants. I am also positive that this royal touch will turn more media interest to this unique event. And they will not be disappointed: The performances will be of very high quality.”
